Looking For Daycares
Picking out a daycare for your child can sometimes be a challenging decision; the final matter you would like to do is place them inside a facility that's going to ultimately be harmful to their development and happiness. Unfortunately, it is not usually easy to distinguish a ""good"" facility from a poor one. Ahead of making a final verdict, there are a number of important bits of info you ought to know. A significant starting position when investigating a facility, especially an institution that cares for a huge number of little ones, is to ascertain if it can be licensed. If so, you know the key providers (frequently the directors) have completed a minimum amount of training in early childhood development, education and/or care, often in an alternative institution. It truly is fine to learn what instruction and go through the tutors and aides are necessary to possess before being hired, as these are the individuals who will regularly have the most hands on contact with the youngsters on a daily basis. These individuals should also be trained in first aid and CPR, and conversant in emergency procedures ought to a predicament arise. The facility ought to have set policies in spot for issues referring to the youngsters themselves, and these really should meet your expectations as nicely. A plan for emergency action really should a kid grow to be injured should be in place, and ready to be executed immediately. Together with policies relating to emergencies, they should have a standard way of discipline for the kids, as well as an operation for being followed when such disciplinary actions don't yield the desired results. These must mesh nicely with your disciplinary actions in your home to prevent confusion for the youngster. Most daycares, whether institutional or in-home, will have a set day-to-day schedule. It's good to notice that schedule, and ensure that your youngster will be in a position to abide by it. Youngsters should be allowed a lot of play time, as well as some structured activities to steer clear of the advent of boredom throughout the day. Naptime can frequently turn out to be a point of rivalry in a daycare situation; an excellent facility will have both a naptime for the kids who continue to take naps and a ""quiet time"" for kids who don't. Potty instruction should also be addressed with any likely caregiver, particularly if your youngster is just not yet out of diapers. Some preschool programs may well demand the young children for being toilet trained prior to enrolling them or will charge an additional fee for having to change diapers. It truly is very important if your child just isn't yet potty conditioned to make sure that whatever facility you choose is willing and able to aid in teaching your child to use the restroom. The facility itself ought to be clean and childproof, with items such as security latches on doors, gates on steps and electrical outlet covers. In the private house, places with fireplaces or timber stoves should be unavailable to youngsters. There need to be more than enough of room for children to spread out and play, and areas that permit exercise both inside and outside of doors. Age appropriate toys need to be accessible, as well as items such as cribs and highchairs for younger children. All this kind of equipment should meet current safety standards, and a great provider ought to have an inventory of said equipment and toys and be on a constant search for safety recalls. The most important issue to bear in mind is any great facility will encourage you to come in, meet the staff and observe classroom interaction prior to enrollment. Stick to your instincts on such visits; remember, no one knows your child like you do!
Got Relationship Tangles?: A Super Bible School Activity for Learning Ephesians 4:32
Have you ever noticed how tangled up relationships can get? And do you ever hear any of these comments among family and friends? – He said this. She said that. I don't like her? He makes me crazy! Relationships can be difficult at times, but as I get older, I am learning that a little kindness and love generously given here and there can untangle some of the worst situations. Our kids are not immune to the tangled webs of relationships around them either. So why not try this super Bible school activity that features a portion of Ephesians 4:32, which says: "Be kind and loving to each other…" to help your kids learn that God can use kindness and love to untangle the worst of relationships. Here's what you do:This activity will require some preparation. Before your children arrive to their class, cut a piece of yarn about 20 to 30 feet long per child. On one end of the string tie a nametag of a child in the class. On the other end, attach a small treat such as a lollipop. Attach the strings to walls or furniture, carefully weaving them in and out among each other. You are now ready to play the activity. When the children arrive, give them time to be curious about the tangled web of yarn. Now say the following: Do any of you have any relationships that feel like they're all tangled up? For example, maybe your sister won't speak to your brother. Or maybe whenever your aunt and uncle come over, they are always fighting. Or maybe there is someone at your school who isn't very nice to you. Do any of you have relationships like that? (Wait for kids to respond.) Well, this tangled yarn you see is a picture of how messed up our friendships can get. Is there a way to get things untangled? I think there is. And I think the answer can be found in a portion of Ephesians 4:32, which says: "Be kind and loving to each other…" Today we are going to practice being kind and loving with this Bible school activity called "Got Relationship Tangles?". I am going to give you a quick relationship challenge. I want you to pretend you are in the story. You must give me one way you could show kindness or love in the situation. Once you have participated in 2 different situations, you can go find your name attached to one of the pieces of yarn and then untangle your piece to find a treat on the other end. Eventually, I hope all your kind and loving responses will clear away the tangled mess in our room and you will be rewarded for your right choices! Here are 12 relationship challenges to give to your kids:

Tips for Great Parenting: Present a United Front for your Children
We all want to be great parents who help our kids grow into respectable, kind, self-sufficient adults. If only there were a guide to teach us how! I asked leading experts for some parenting advice, and they insist that it’s easier than many parents think. Here's the first step: present a united front in front of your children. It is essential that both parents, or whoever the caregivers are, are on the same page when dealing with their children about consequences, rules, and expectations. “Kids are manipulative and they’ll take advantage,” says Marlene McDermott, Marriage and Family Therapist at Serenity Counseling in Palmyra. For example, if one parent gives the child a month-long grounding, but the other parent cuts it to two weeks, the child recognizes that there is “wiggle room,” explains Marlene. “Clearly they’re not on the same page and the kid knows where the loophole is.”This rule is important always....from the tiniest problems to the largest issues. If you tell your three year old that he cannot have candy at the grocery store, but then your husband buys him a treat, he will learn at a very young age how to manipulate one or the other of you. You must establish the ground rules together so that he doesn't figure out how to "work" the system. While a disagreement over something as small as a piece of candy seems trivial, it's the pattern of showing a united front that ultimately matters. When he's 16 he sneaks his first beer, he can't think that one parent will let him off the hook while the other has made the rules against drinking clear.McDermott urges parents to agree on general rules of the house and make every member aware of them. If you don’t agree, work out differences behind closed doors, away from the child and then return with an answer. “Never let the kid see that and always present as a united front,” she says. Financial for child education
In a fast moving and growing world where by an eye blink now we are at year 2010. We need to prepare for our child education where in 10 years time the education scheme will definitely going through changes and increase in requirements. One thing for sure, the education fee will definitely will increase. So, what are our plans to better prepare to overcome these changes and challenges?I will cover our future education scheme in a another topic in a near future. Now, I would like to discuss and share my thought on financial for education. In general, most parents already invested in insurance for their child education. Before we could commit of these insurance, investment and saving, we have to have a plan for our child education. I've list down the checklist below:1. What is your education plan for your child future? an engineer, a doctor, a pilot, an academician and entrepreneur2. You may want have a plan A and plan B, which worst case scenario, if plan A does work then you could easily switch to plan B almost immediately.3. Once you chose the education plan then you have to commit on financial commitment which my recommendation, put aside minimum of 10% to 20% of your gross salary for this plan.4. Diversify your financial commitments into 3 main categories; protection (insurance), investment and saving.5. Monitor your child education and ability which you may see his/her potential and adjust your financial commitment accordingly.Lastly, every single cent you spent on our child education will give you a peace at heart and you will never regret.
I Will Tell Relay: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing Isaiah 63:7
Can you list some kindnesses of the Lord? For example, He is kind enough to surround us with friends. He is kind enough to take care of all our needs. He was kind enough to create the beautiful world that we live in. Of course, those are just to name a few. There are so many kindnesses that we should proclaim to every one we meet. In fact, Isaiah 63:7 encourages us to do just that. It says, "I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord." Pretty simple, but very profound. Here is a fun Bible school activity you will want to try with your kids to help them memorize this wonderful Bible verse. I call it "I Will Tell Relay".Here's what you do:For this Sunday school lesson bible game you will need 2 cans that are the #10 size. This is usually the can that holds 28 oz. Cut off both ends with a can opener and make sure that there are no sharp edges anywhere. You may even want to place tape around the edges. These cans will be passing from arm to arm, so safety is very important. Make sure the cans are clean and wrap each can with a different color of construction paper. Before playing the game, take time to introduce Isaiah 63:7. Ask the kids to help you make a list of the kindnesses of the Lord much in the same way I did at the beginning of this article. As they say a kindness, write it somewhere on each of the cans. Now, have the class say the Bible verse together several times so that they begin to memorize it and are ready to play the game. Finally, explain how the game is played and help them understand that as they are "shaking hands" and passing the "can of kindnesses" they are representing what it is like to share the Lord's kindnesses with everyone they meet. Here's how you play:Divide your class into 2 teams. Have them form 2 parallel lines facing each other about 3 to 4 feet apart. Have the first person in each line place the can on their arm. After talking about the verse, tell the children that on your word, "Go!", the first person in each line must pass the can to the person next to them by shaking hands through the can. Each person can only use one hand to pass the can. In other words, they cannot use their other hand to help them in any way. Once the can gets to the end of the line, the last person must pass the can to a teacher or helper and say Isaiah 63:7 to that teacher or helper. If he says it correctly, he takes the can back to the beginning of the line and steps away. There is now one less person in the line. The game proceeds as before. If a child does not say the verse correctly, he must go to the beginning of the line and start the can again. The first team to "get rid of" all their teammates is the winner of this super Bible school activity.
The Wordless Book Game: A Super Free Bible Activity for Learning the Wordless Book Colors
I love the Wordless Book! I teach it to all my kids. It is a simple and great tool for sharing the wonderful plan God has for all mankind through the five colors of black, red, white, green and yellow. Here is a great free Bible activity that your kids will really love to play while learning what each of the colors means. It takes some preparation, but it will be well worth the effort. Here's what you do:Prepare 48 cards about 2.5 x 2.5. On the front of each card you might print a picture of the Wordless Book. On the backs of 10 cards each, place one of these 4 colors: red, white, green and yellow. On top of each of the colors, write a point value of 100 to 400. On the backs of the eight remaining cards, place the black color with no point value. Place all 48 cards front side forward on a pocket chart or a table for your whole class to see. Next, get a basket in which you will put 2 each of the following cards: 2 black, 2 red, 2 white, 2 green, 2 yellow and 2 with all the 5 colors showing. Finally, have the list of prepared True or False questions found below. You are now ready to play the game.Divide your children into 2 teams and pick a child to be the scorekeeper. Tell the children they are going to learn about the Wordless Book and what each of the colors means. (If you have not done so already, take time to go over the Wordless Book colors one by one. For this game I will assume you know how to do that. If you are new to the Wordless Book, you can Google it to find out how to present it.)Have a child come up from the first team. Ask him to reach into the basket and pull out one of the color cards. You, the teacher, will proceed to ask the child one of the True or False questions that match the color he chose. If the child answers the true or false question correctly, he will then have the chance to pick up to 4 cards from the 48 Wordless Book cards. Each card has a point value of 100 to 400 points. There are also 8 black cards on the board. If the child picks a black card, then all the points they have accumulated on their turn go to the other team. The child does not have to pick all 4 cards during his turn. He can stop if he is afraid he might find a black card. Play until all 12 questions have been read. The team with the most points wins. Here are the Wordless Book Questions:1. Dark – Romans 13:12 says this: "We need to set aside the deeds of darkness in our lives." Deeds of darkness are sins. Sin is anything you think, say or do that displeases God.True or False: We need to get rid of the sin in our lives.2. Dark – Hebrews 12:1 says this: "Let us throw off everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles us and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Do you ever feel tangled up in your sin? It seems one lie leads to another or one unkind word leads to a bad attitude. The next time you feel tangled up in your sin, remember to go to God right away and ask Him to forgive you and set you free.True or False: Sin doesn't tangle you up. It makes life smooth.3. Red – Hebrews 9:22 says this: "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness." It is very important that a Christian understands why Jesus died on the cross. This Bible verse gives us the answer. He died so that His perfect blood that He shed on the cross could forgive our sins. When we believe this we are forgiven.True or False: Jesus HAD to shed His blood in order for our sins to be forgiven.4. Red – Revelation 1:5-6 says this: "To Him who loved us and has freed us from our sin by His blood, be all the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen!" Isn't it amazing that Jesus loved us so much that He willingly endured the pain of the cross so that the blood He shed would forgive our sins? When we believe this, we are free from the deathly power of sin.True or False: Believing that Jesus shed His blood for the forgiveness of my sins does not free me from the power of sin.5. White – 1 John 1:9 says this: "If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." Unrighteousness is another word for sin. After we choose to accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, it is important to understand that we still might do wrong things. When we do these wrong things we should go to God in prayer and confess, or say we are truly sorry for what we did. We should also remember that when Jesus died on the cross, all our sins were washed away.True or False: When I do something wrong, I should confess it to God.6. White – A lot of people in this world think they can get rid of their sins just by being really, really good. This is absolutely not true. The only way you can get rid of the sin in your life is by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior who died on the cross to forgive your sins.True or False: I can get rid of my sins just by being really, really good.7. Green – After we choose to believe in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we should have a desire to grow in Him. Growing in God is as simple as GROW! (Spell out the letters). "G" stands for going to church. "R" stands for reading your Bible and praying. "O" stands for obeying God. And "W" stands for witnessing to others about Jesus.True or False: Growing in God is as simple as SHRINK (Spell out the letters).8. Green – The green color in the Wordless Book reminds us that we can grow in God. Once we become a Christian, we become a child of God. The Bible says we also become His friend. Growing in your friendship with God should be your #1 priority.True or False: Growing in God should be the last thing you ever think about.9. Yellow – The Wordless Book color of yellow should remind us of Heaven. The Bible says that in Heaven there is one street made out of pure gold. This will be exciting to see one day, but it can't compare to the amazing fact that Heaven is where God lives.True or False: The Bible says that in Heaven there is one street made out of jellybeans.10. Yellow – Earth is a wonderful place to live, but Heaven is a Christian's real home. Did you know that Heaven has rules? One of the biggest rules is this: Nothing bad or specifically sinful can ever enter into Heaven. Since "all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God," the only way into Heaven is by believing on the Lord Jesus Christ.True or False: Nothing bad or specifically sinful can ever enter into Heaven.11. Wordless Book Colors – The Wordless Book is an amazing tool that you can use to share God's wonderful plan with everyone you meet. There are no words in the Wordless Book, just 5 great colors. And once you know what each color means, the Wordless Book definitely has a lot to say.True or False: The Wordless Book has 5 pages of words.12. Wordless Book Colors – The Wordless Book has 5 beautiful colors that share the good news of God's wonderful plan for you and me. Dark is for the sin in our lives. Red is for God's blood. White is for how Jesus made our heart clean from sin. Green is for our growth in God. Yellow is for Heaven.True or False: Each color in the Wordless Book tells of God's wonderful plan for you and me.

Stand Firm in the Faith: A Super Bible School Activity for Memorizing I Corinthians 15:16
I am so proud of our military and how day in and day out they are defending our country. These men and women are truly standing firm as they do their job with great passion and focus. Do your kids know that God wants them to have this same kind of passion and focus while being on duty for Him? First Corinthians 15:16 says this: "Be on your guard, stand firm in the faith, be men of courage and be strong." Doesn't this verse sound like the perfect Scripture for any soldier? Here is a Bible school activity to help your "young soldiers for the Lord" memorize this great verse while having some fun with a ball. Here's what you do:Before playing this game, you will want to introduce First Corinthians 15:16 to your class. I present this in a militaristic way. I even wear a soldier's hat and say things like: "You're speaking to a commanding officer! You will address me as Sir!" (Have the kids say, "Yes, Sir!") Then I say, "I can't hear you!" (The kids shout louder, "Yes, Sir!") I think you get the idea. I then have them recite the verse several times in a loud soldierly voice. Once you feel like the kids are beginning to know the verse, then you can introduce the game.Divide your class into 2 teams. Have them stand in 2 straight lines, about 15 feet apart, facing each other. Bring out a ball and pick one team to start. Each child should stand with their feet wide enough apart for the ball to go through. They should also have their hands down to their sides in a soldier's stance. Give a child the ball. Say the following, "Alright, soldiers! Here are your orders. Each team will get a chance to try and knock the other line of soldiers off balance. Each team should do their very best to stand firm and stay on your guard just like our Bible verse says. If a team successfully rolls the ball through the legs of a soldier on the opposite team, that soldier must say the Bible verse correctly. If he does so, his team gets 100 points. If he does not say the verse correctly, the team that threw the ball will get the 100 points. By the way, you may not use your hands or feet to stop the ball in any way. Your job is to stand firm. Are you ready? (Kids say, "Yes, Sir!)Have the teams take turns rolling the ball. Have someone keep score and by all means, stand firm during this fun Bible school activity.
Why Shapes are Important for Preschoolers
Babies are born with the ability to discern between different shapes, thanks to their ability to see and feel them. Unfortunately, we are not born with the ability to name those shapes, which we need to do so we can identify different shapes and compare them to each other. How shapes are used is an important concept to learn. Teach your child about shapes with good worksheets for preschool, and you'll be providing them with skills they will use for the rest of their lives.Learning about shapes will help your child identify letters, and help them with writing and reading later on. Letters are made up of circles, triangles and lines – think of the circles in b, d, g, p, q, or the parts of a triangle found in k, v and w. Drawing the curved lines of a circle or oval shape helps your child to write letters such as f, u, m, n, j, and the lines in squares helps your child to write i, l, k, p, q and so on. Often, recognizing the shapes in the letters helps a child to recognize the letter too, important for developing reading skills. The first step in learning how to draw is to learn how to draw basic, simple shapes. Almost anything can be drawn using shapes, such as a house, a cat, a book, a ball; even more complicated drawings start with the basic shapes that form the outline of the object. This makes it easier for your child to progress from stick drawings to more detailed artworks – and if they have talent, they will use shapes to draw and paint in the future as well.Shapes are extremely important in basic and more advanced math. Most adults will immediately think of geometry, but shape patterns and spatial perception help your child to develop sequencing and logic skills that they will use later in their school career in subjects like calculus. We use shapes every day as adults, although we may not realize it. If you think about it, rearranging the lounge furniture, cleaning out the kitchen cupboards or the refrigerator is done according to the shape of the items in them, and how they will relate to each other. Road signs and markings make extensive use of different shapes, helping us to recognize them before we can actually read them.Learning about shapes includes learning about 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional shapes. A sphere, or ball, is a 3D circle, and has specific properties, such as the ability to roll, that some other shapes do not have. This is true of all shapes, and your child will be able to make this progression if his or her basic grounding is good.Children can start learning shapes from the day they start talking if not earlier – although they may not be able to verbalize what they hear or see. By the time your child is 3 or 4 years old, they will need to start learning their shapes. By the time they are ready to start kindergarten, children are expected to know the basic shapes, recognize them and identify how they form part of other items. They may also be expected to be able to draw the shapes – not perfectly, but certainly recognizably. There are many ways to encourage and help your child to learn about shapes.Because shapes are all around us, it is easy to play ‘Find the Shape' at home, in the car, in the store and elsewhere. Select one shape at a time to concentrate on, rather than trying to find all the different shapes.Good quality worksheets for preschool will help your child progress from recognizing different shapes, seeing how they form part of other objects, and should help them learn how to draw them. Drawing shapes is the precursor to learning how to write, and a good set of worksheets should take you step-by-step through this process until your child is drawing shapes on their own, free hand. Look out for worksheets that combine learning shapes with the use of different colors, as this is particularly effective in reinforcing the shape names. A step-by-step teaching method that provides ample opportunity to practice will be ideal.
Teach Kids about Recycling: it is not only fun, it will Save the Earth too!
It is common knowledge that children are the hope of our future. And educating them this early about saving the planet will benefit the entire world. I take on this belief by teaching my own son to be responsible for the environment. And I must admit that we are both having fun learning new things as we both explore the world of recycling. This is the reason I believe that we parents should take it upon ourselves to teach kids about recycling because it will definitely save our planet. Here are some tips on ways how to encourage our children to be more involved with saving our planet.Recycling is the most basic lesson you should teach your child about arresting environmental issues. Why so, you may ask? Well, it is simply because recycling is fairly easy to follow. You just need to teach your child to identify the items that can be recycled and teach him to segregate. You can even make trips to recycling centers a bonding moment. You can also teach your kid to plant trees. Planting trees will help create more oxygen, which will alleviate the effects of global warming. I have tried doing this activity with my son and he was so excited as we plant a tree on our backyard. He waters the plant everyday and make sure that it gets enough sunshine. We also tried working on compost heap. He gathered some of the vegetable and fruit wastes gathered in our kitchen and together we buried them with some dried leaves. Our next project is to plant vegetables that we can both enjoy eating once it grows.I also tried to teach my son how to ride the bike. I promised to take him for a walk or bike together to school. I am trying to teach him how to save on gas and carbon monoxide emission. I told him that if we both walk to school, we are going to become healthier because we can exercise and we are also helping our planet to breathe more fresh air.We also tried a no TV or computer night. We played board games the whole night until we both got tired and sleepy. And then the following morning I explained to him that by not watching TV or playing computer games once a week, we are conserving on electricity. These are only few of the things that we both enjoyed doing. We are just starting to explore living more green and we are enjoying it. I hope that with these helpful tips, you can also take time to be more creative and teach kids about recycling and other green ideas.
Reluctant Readers
This catch-all term describes children with a range of problems that are commonly faced by parents and teachers today. But there can be a single solution. And it's one that specialist children's book retailers can provide with specialist title collections that are designed to bridge the gap between entrenched resistance to the written word and real enthusiasm for some of the truly exciting examples of children's literature currently available.Reluctant readers can often perform the mechanics of reading, but choose not to. They do not usually have learning difficulties. With TV in the bedroom, computer games and social networking sites, our offspring have plenty to keep them engaged and entertained. But computer games and TVs in bedrooms tempt children away from reading, from practising a skill that, once learned, goes on to shape their lives.Computer and TV screens may not be all that's keeping them from becoming good readers. Some children are just not interested in reading stories, or in reading anything at length. Even when they are older and have developed their reading skills, many children are still reluctant to read for very long. They might skim-read magazines or factual texts, or search for specific information on Web sites - and these abilities do represent important skills - but for children to engage fully with more meaningful content, their curiosity needs to be aroused at an early age, or they will have a handicap that will be almost impossible to overcome in later years. All the latest research confirms that intervening early with young readers who are not attracted to books is essential. It is important for the rest of their lives that they become fluent in reading. Choosing the right books is the key to success with reluctant readers. There is an incredibly rich choice of children's literature in a range of genres, from ancient myths to stories of modern life. The key issue is to make the books accessible, and help children find relevance in what they read. The trick is to pick something that will help them pursue something they are interested in. If they are interested in magic and folklore, dinosaurs and wildlife, space travel or fashion, there are many fascinating and well-illustrated factual books around - all potentially riveting readsAnd they do need to be riveting reads. Youngsters for whom reading is any kind of hard work are only going to make the effort if they feel the book is worth it. Specialist Reluctant Reader Collections have stories that are strong enough to keep the pages turning - even for youngsters who "can read but just don't want to".Many suppliers of books for schools recognise the time pressures that teachers are under and the lack of time to spend comparing and choosing the most suitable books covering a wide range of reading abilities and meeting the criteria of the National Curriculum and the National Literacy Strategy.Collections for reluctant readers include titles from both mainstream and specialist publishers, many from authors everyone is likely to recognise. Specialist publishers tend to focus on titles for readers whose reading age is lower than the interest age, which means that if you have a child who finds reading difficult, or one who isn't yet ready to cope with long books, or even one who simply doesn't latch on to the concept of books at all, you can try one of these. Each collection is labelled with its reading age and interest age. Some specialist publishers and authors are past masters at convincing reluctant readers that books can be cool. Typically, their books are short, sharp and intriguing - skilfully written and edited with page turnability uppermost in mind. The ultimate aim is to get every reluctant or struggling reader to take that first important step into enjoying the reading experience. When a reader is hooked on a story, reading ability is sure to improve. Children read more fluently because they want to! That's the reason book collections for reluctant readers have to provide fabulous stories.Retailers have thought long and hard about their collections and know that every one of the books selected provides a powerful and 'un-put-downable' narrative, even for the most reluctant reader. They save families and schools time and money by researching the best books with appealing themes and attractive covers for reluctant readers of all ages before putting them together in affordable book collections with generous discounts on published prices.
Teaching peace-living in classrooms
The world talks about peace but there is no school in the world that gives its students lessons or an institute which has initiated a curriculum for peace living. . Has any school allocated a period to start an interactive session on this particular aspect? No certainly not. Talk of peace is just sheer words. When Civil Rights activist Martin Luther King said, "I have a dream," millions of people who had congregated at Washington D.C, the US capital, celebrated the hope of a bright future for the blacks in particular. It was a matter of jubilation for his supporters because the words "I have a dream" were soaked in complete honesty and exuded a promise in the tone of the statement. And in these few words were hidden a call for the people to join him in his endeavour.Such was the power of the words and more important was its meaning. The words had value and when said from a person of repute, the credibility of the content multiplied.Fortunately, the words remain the same but its power gets weak when it comes out from a speaker whose credentials are suspect.Today when Indian politicians talk of a dream to build the country for a strong future global positioning, they receive nothing but scornful looks and raised eyebrows. India is correctly positioned on the world map. The world powers knows about us as the powers in our country know about the smallest countries like Monaco or Nauru after the Vatican city.Perhaps India's global positioning has to be done in context of economic conditions, per capita income, social securities, medical facilities, transport systems and a host of others. This means that India should progress and then field herself as a giant on a macro level which again means that the countrymen are going to benefit first when we actually talk about global positioning.Specifically speaking, common Indian does not need to know the distance between Karachi and Mumbai through nautical miles or the air distance between Israel and New delhi. Or have accurate knowledge of all the countries in the world. But the two words, Global Positioning has become such a misnomer with most Indians that the context is lost and a new wasteful meaning emerges from it. It is sure that ninety percent of the country MLAs will fail to give the correct answer if there was a random survey for the meaning of the two words. In India, we still await the day when we will believe that one's word is a word – a commitment and a promise to fulfill.
B.ed Correspondence From Delhi
The Right to Education Bill has been passed in India. This bill would bring about a revolution in the field of education in India. It aims at providing education to all children of India by creating good educational infrastructure and appointing trained educators. This will make education meaningful in real means. This bill has brought about enormous opportunities in the profession of teaching. In the coming years large number of teachers would be recruited in govt and private sector. The first and the foremost requirement is that the applicant candidate should have done any of the following i.e. nursery teacher training, primary teacher training, B.Ed. A sudden rise has been seen in the candidates applying for the various teacher training courses. The fee structure of such course varies from 30-40,000. But the lucrative pay scales in teaching profession compel the female candidates especially to go for such teacher training courses. The information statistics show a rise in the number of enrolments in various govt and private institutes. The govt Sector gives the jobs to teachers through entrance test and interviews. Whereas the private schools give jobs by interviewing the candidates. Some good teacher training institutes also help the students in getting jobs in private sector. It includes the DIET,Indoss polytechnia, vidya training institute etc. This profession is in its best blooming days.People who are already employed with corporate sector are also switching over from their hectic jobs to the field of teaching. And I must say its better late than never. The corporate sector also faces the slump periods which leads to downsizing in companies. So there is a continuous risk of losing the job. But education is a field which can never face such a day as it is now considered a basic necessity of human beings. The schools are big companies providing employment to lakhs of people. Moreover there is no age limit for doing the teacher training courses and the age limit for applying for teachers post even in govt sector is 42 years for females.CONTACT DETAILS- 9212441844Location- J-198 IInd Floor, Rajouri Garden opp. Kukreja Hospital
Creativity Inspired by BrickTrainShop
BrickTrainShop.com addresses the most common asked question by its customers,I have my design but can't find the parts I need, how do I solve this problem? Our answer:I would say creativity is THE right way to solve any design difficulty with LEGO bricks. After all, that's what LEGO is all about. Of course I cannot tell you how to design your models with your own parts collection, but I can give you some general advice:- Choose common colors for your designs. Yes I would like to build with dark green or dark blue all the time, but your collection is probably as full of red and yellow parts as mine. Green and orange are cool also but even less common than red and yellow. According to peeron(4), the most common colors are black, white, greys, red, yellow, and blue.- Some parts are no longer available. But often, the discontinued parts are replaced by others with only small changes in the shape. Windows(5) are a well known example, as noted in Jake McKee's book "Getting Started With LEGO Trains". That is wise advice: when you can't get certain part, try to replace it with a similar part.-Be careful when looking for Lego Parts online as many fraudulent parts made in china have surfaced recently such as the "enlighten" line of bricks, these are not Lego and although they look the same they are not, these fraudulent ads look convincing but it's just a big RipOff.- Colors are sometimes not so important in the complete design. If you can't get a part in certain color, try to replace this part in a neutral color. What is neutral? Neutral can be white, grey or black, or a lighter/darker hue of the same color. This could even lead youinto a totally new and eye-catching livery (colour scheme) for your engine.A perfect illustration of creativity based on limited part collection is the LEGO Hobby Train set (10183). The set has only 1080 parts but 10 LEGO adult fans have built more than 30 different models with them (one at a time).ConclusionOf course, creativity is not everything. You need a nice collection of parts to be creative. But a good designershould not blame his part collection limitations for his lack of inspiration.Play well.

Idleness: Is your child a victim of this?
“An empty mind is the devil’s workshop.” This famous proverb is powerful enough to explain the consequences of an idle mind. Magazines and research papers time and again bring forth the afflictions that children in most countries get affected with, drugs, alcohol, Internet abuse and teen pregnancy. What they fail to include is ‘Idleness’. If we try to trace the roots of all the problems that children and teenagers go through, chances are that boredom would come out as the most common factor. Many social networking websites cash in on this trait of children. When children have nothing to do, they tend to fall prey to Internet Marketing gimmicks associated with social networking, chatting and similar departments. A few years back, the scenario was like this. Teens would come back from school and go to their part-time jobs. Else, they would complete their homework. All these things would keep them occupied. There used to be a fixed routine. And it was beneficial for the teenagers. Today’s world is a little different. Single-parent households or families where both the parents work do not require kids to take after-school jobs. Availability of housekeepers makes things all the more worse. Television, though hosts a number of educational shows (read National Geographic, Discovery, History etc.), not many parents can claim that their kids prefer these over entertaining shows of different genres. Internet, yet again, is a sea of information. But it finds its use among teenagers more for social networking and watching ‘adult content’ in comparison to Wikipedia or educational blogs. Boredom is the root of all evil. If children would not have work to do after school, they would waste their time indulging in activities like online chatting, watching useless TV serials, playing video games and chatting via SMS. Is there a solution to getting rid of idleness? After-school programs and part-time jobs can keep your child occupied. Parents can pay attention to the activities that their kids like. Giving a lot of pocket money to kids is also a major cause for teenage-related issues. Community centers in most localities have various programs for children of different age-groups. Kids should learn to do household chores themselves; too much dependence on the housekeeper would spoil your child. Parents should participate in their child’s activities. This way, kids would not be able to waste time. Intern and TV are excellent sources of entertainment and information. However, parents should keep an eye on the type of content their kids are watching and reading. Helping your kid with homework is a constructive way of keeping him/her occupied. Online Tutoring after school can keep kids occupied and open a whole new world of knowledge to him/her. Kids often find it difficult to cope with math problems. Online Math Tutoring would provide your child with personalized tutoring. You can encourage kids to play sports with you. Parents should also make friend with their kid’s friends. Being in the ‘gang’ can help you know your child’s psyche to the core. The devil finds work for idle hands to do!
Not Sure How To Prepare Your Child For Kindergarden?
Every child would enter kindergarten once they are of age. While some of them are afraid to do so, there are some who couldn't wait for the moment to come. Laughter, tears, anxiety are a mixture of expressions often shown by these children. However, there are a few tips in preparing a child in for what they are about to face upon entering kindergarten. One of the tips that would help a child prepare for kindergarten is by taking into consideration their personal needs. In this area, it is important for the parents to teach their children the "basic survival skills" in a kindergarten environment. A child has to know how to eat by themselves, use the washroom appropriately, be a little independent when it comes to tying their shoelaces or tidying up their uniforms when their uniforms get messed up. Another tip that would help a child prepare would be their social skills. While more often than not, they are surrounded by their family members, they have to learn to step out of the circle and mix around with other children as well. Although some make friends easily, some may take a longer time to mix around. In this area, the teacher would have to be responsible in ensuring that the whole classes participate in similar activities and similar lessons. Here, a child has to be prepared intellectually as well. To make lessons enjoyable, a teacher can also conduct in-class activities such as drawing and reading. If given the opportunity, a teacher can conduct outdoor activities such as a visit to the zoo to allow the children the exposure of socializing out of their classroom.Last but not least, a child has to ensure that their health needs is in perfect shape. They have to have all the required immunization as well as a constant medical check-up as necessary. It would be worrisome for both parents and teachers if the child is unwell as the illness or sickness may spread to the rest of the children in the class. A child would also have to be taken care of in a way that they have to be trained to sleep early into the night, played during suitable occasions and eat at an appropriate schedule.
Bubonic plague "ring around the rosies"
Hasn't everyone heard of "Ring around the Rosies"? This is quite a famous nursery rhyme. As Poupard, L. Vincent has said, this is not the nice little song it sounds like. In fact this whole song was based on the fact of huge amounts of death in Europe. The nursery Rhyme, "Ring around the rosies, pocket full of posies, ashes, ashes we all fall down, has a terrifying meaning behind it. When at first caught, the Bubonic Plague would get rings of puss filled sores on the body. Soon after you would see their dead bodies full of posies as a sign of letting others to know not to go near the body (Poupard, L. Vincent). "Ashes, Ashes" describes the burning of the bodies (Poupard, L. Vincent). They would be carried off in carts in piles, from which they would go get cremated in mass numbers and put into a big pit. "We all fall down" shows the common belief back then, that there would be an extinction of the human population. There are many contrary's to this, as people say that since the Nursery rhyme was published in the 1800's it couldn't possibly have anything to do with the Plague. But if it's a nursery rhyme, and only the kids would sing it, why would anyone publish it then? If 1/3 the population of everyone in Europe died,(The Black Death, 1348) then why would they be publishing nursery rhymes? Even with these controversial issues, there is still a lot of fact from the Black Plague. For instance, as The Black Death, 1348 states, it did start in the shores of Italy. As soon as the ship that had people with this disease landed, the Italians kicked them out, but it was too late. The disease had spread to Europe. Not soon after, it had spread all across Europe. The death rate was huge and many prayed to their gods. It seemed like god was not listening. Soon after their prayers family members died and many began questioning their belief (The Black Death: Bubonic Plague). With the amount of people dying, there were many effects, such as a huge loss in the amount of labor workers (The Black Death, 1348). The bubonic variant of this disease was the most common during this time. The Bubonic plague was given its name as the victims of the disease would get swellings on the victim's neck, armpits, or groin. These tumors ranged in size from an egg to an apple. So the nursery rhyme, being about the bubonic plague has made sense so far. Many are dying; the air is full of disease and the cries of sick people. The rings would be the tumors, and with the posies in their shirts they were put outside, in hope that a Becchini, would come and pick up the body. "A becchini was usually a man of low social rank usually themselves affected with the plague, that would cart the dead and performed other tasks that no one else care to do" (Gottfried 47). "All left the sick and the dead, Friars and nuns were left to care for the sick, and monasteries and convents were soon deserted, as they were stricken, too" (The Black Death: Bubonic Plague). These two quotes shows how intense the people were to not catch the disease. But anyone would be this way to if they knew they could die any second. With everyone acting this way, would it not be right for the children, being extremely sad, to go around singing these songs? If parents are scared it usually makes it worse for the children. And at the rate of the people dying, as described by Boccaccio, "They ate lunch with their friends and dinner with their ancestors in paradise." (The Black Death: Bubonic Plague) people would have been going crazy. Many of the children would want to make something happy come out of this; it's a good solid reason for believing that the nursery rhyme was made about the bubonic plague. What Ideas are You Looking for to Teach Reading
When teaching your children how to read I would stick to the basics and not try and bring in new any ideas for teaching reading. The tried and trusted methods of teaching reading have been already taught many, many children so why experiment with new ideas. The number one idea you should be using is reading in bed as often as possible. This way your children get into the habit of reading and hopefully they end up with a love of reading. With so much competition for your child’s free time they need a love of reading so they will keep reading.Another good idea for teaching reading is phonics. Phonics has been teaching kids to read for well over a century and it is very effective. Phonics are a road map to reading, they are the code to deciphering the written word and once your children know phonics they should be able to read anything. I like the Montessori method of phonics but there are many good phonics programs available online and off. After your children have mastered phonics they can read nearly everything but they don’t always understand what they are reading. That is where you or a good dictionary comes in. To save your sanity it is s very good idea to teach your kid’s how to use a dictionary. This way they will be asking you what this word means all the time.Another good idea for teaching reading is to ask your children to tell you about the story they have just finished reading. This way you will know if your kid’s reading comprehension is progressing the correct way. So the good ideas for teaching reading are reading in bed as often as possible, phonics and reading comprehension.

Education for African American Children
In order to ensure African American children understand importance of education, African American parents should provide them with moral and psychological support, as well as to teach them value their individuality.IntroductionWhile the case of Brown vs. Board has raised serious response in society, it is yet under doubt, whether changes in the social structure of education and changes in race attitudes in the public educational system have occurred. The importance of this work is in an attempt to partially shift the emphasis from direct race attitudes towards African American children. The accent should be made on what African American parents should do to ensure their children understand the importance of education. The issue will be considered through several aspects:- significance of education in general;- psychological preparation of the child to real-life environment;- meaning of the segregated schools' factor. The complexity of the present issue is in the fact that it implies the conjunction of the problems from the areas of psychology, racism and education. In order to offer specific actions to African American parents one should closely analyze certain situations arising within the African American education framework. However, based on the reading 'Acting right', one may come to conclusion that it is easier for the African American child to avoid public education or for African American parents to do their best to provide their child with home-based educational opportunities. On the contrary, avoiding education is unacceptable in the modern environment, where availability of education is made higher, and the significance of education increases daily. Educating at school, which is traditionally called 'white' due to the prevalence of Caucasian race pupils in it, will be the first challenge which a child will have to overcome in order to adjust to the reality of life. This is why parents should provide the child with the opportunity to study at school. It is also the primary parents' obligation to morally support the child in studies and to avoid missing school. The importance of education for an African American child in this sense is providing the child with the confidence in his uniqueness and his ability to achieve considerable results in education. The article states that remarkable accomplishments of African American pupils are usually given attention through the prism of 'acting white refrain'. Moral stability is needed in order for the child not to lose individuality and striving for achievements. This is another aspect of psychological training, through which the child goes within the school environment. In this sense parents should stand on the child's side in protecting his (her) individuality and teaching him (her) to value it.Educating child in a segregated school might partially look as the best solution for the child and may save African American family from the stress through which the child will go in the mixed school. For the child to become totally prepared for the adult life, he (she) is recommended to go through the difficulties of the mixed school. African American parents should not choose the easiest way, understanding the race issues existing within the society; this is why sending the child to a common public school may serve the best gateway for resolution of the child's psychological issues. The story described in the article is another proof for the fact, that changing attitudes of people, which come with age, will finally work for the benefit of the child. The process of education is the combination of approaches and instruments, under which the child should learn to be flexible, but not to weaken under their pressure. Acting 'right' and not acting 'white' is what the child should learn and to what the African American child should adhere; without going through the education process this psychological adjustment will not occur.ConclusionThe meaning of education for African American children in the mixed school environment is not only in creating solid basis for further life-long career development. The significance of education is in providing the child with serious psychological stability and moral strength in facing challenges connected with the race issues. Adhering to the thought that avoiding difficulties in education is the best instrument of bringing up the child should not be supposed appropriate. In order to ensure the child understand education' importance, African American parents should provide the child with sufficient moral support, without avoiding education and helping the child value his individuality without being weakened by the pressing 'white' environment.
Helping Children Develop Their Brain Capabilities
As children grow, they develop their way of thinking, habits and behaviours. Some children, not having a good parental assistance may show development trends that differ from those having good parental guidance. One of the things that parents could do to help their children in their everyday life is to enhance their mental capacities. As such, parents can encourage their children to read books. Nowadays, there are a lot of books designed especially for children. These can be easily bought in the local book shop or over the Internet. There are also books that contain word searches or crosswords. These can be very essential to improve the capabilities of the children mind which is required to focus and think for the answer. Children who do such activities on a regular basis can achieve a better logical thinking than those who do not. Moreover, another brain developing practice for children is memory exercises. Memory exercises are one of the easiest practices for children as they can be done anywhere. Since the young age, children are taught how to spell their names. They are also taught about their addresses and contact numbers. Numerous memory exercises exist. Children can work on remembering poems, songs and names of the different members in their families. Developing the memory can help children have a better focus, hence increasing their ability to remember information. Memorising is a very useful skill since many subjects such as Maths or Science require good memory for better learning. Furthermore, an interesting brain developing activity for children is the use of the least active hand for writing or drawing. Drawing one half of a picture with the most active hand and afterwards completing the other half with the non dominant one can be a good learning option for children. Doing such an activity may encourage children to use both half of their brains to work together. Practicing brain activities are not only fun but they help children to gradually but effectively develop the most important part of their body. Additionally, books are inarguably one of the best means to boost children development. Books not only are fun to read but they help children develop their language skills. Parents should encourage their children to read books on a regular basis as nowadays a normal education includes the knowledge of using a keyboard. This said, computers have become an integral part of the everyday life. They are used in schools, offices, hospitals, etc. Similarly, the Internet has turned into a huge encyclopedia. So, the reading of books has somehow been devalued but its importance remains a strong one, especially for children. In fact, most of the times, we can see children seeking information from a computer rather than from the pages of a big reference book. However, children should remember that when computers did not exist, books made lawyers and doctors. The computer is definitely an immense facility for good education of children but the importance of reading books must not be ignored.

But your goal must still be to transfer and obtain a bachelors degree. The Horatio Alger Scholarships were named after Horatio Alger, Jr. A productive American author from the 19th century, who was famous for writing about poor children on the streets trying to make an honest living to survive. He tried to convey the idea that hard work, morality, and charity. Since 1947, the association named for him has been helping students who exhibit community leaders while facing their own financial obstacles. This program is an outstanding opportunity for students to be able to pay for college. As we know college expenses are increasing, and now many more students need some assistance to afford school. So doing a bit of research can help you find programs like this one.
What is Bioinformatics
Bioinformatics is a discipline which combines computer technology and biology to handle the immense biological data, mainly genetic information which has been produced over the years. It involves creating, managing and updating the databases which are warehouse of the biological information and the development of the tools used for analyzing and using this data. The information so gathered is then used for the discovery and development of gene based drugs. In 1978, the term bioinformatics was given by Paulien Hogeweg. Bioinformatics provides a platform for two very divergent disciplines to come together and complement each other for a common purpose of locating, deciphering and studying the genome as a whole and not in bits and pieces. The scientists from the two fields who are a part of this discipline don’t always understand the other’s views and scope but they share the above stated common goal. In fact, by the application of the various technologies for gathering and analyzing data, they are deciphering more genetic codes than they had ever hoped for. When the first genetic code was cracked, it paved the path for the mindboggling boom in molecular biology. However the work involved was very slow and cumbersome as the scientists could work on only one particular part or piece of the genetic code at a time and not the entire genome. Therefore, even after so much of work, they couldn’t get the entire picture. However with the help of bioinformatics, they came up with software which were very specific in what they did and could be used to do the same work quickly and with great accuracy. Bioinformatics combines the deeper understanding of various biological processes with specific programs which have excellent data mining and retrieval qualities. A bioinformatician can’t be a person belonging to only one either the field of biology or computer technology, he needs have a fair amount of knowledge about both the disciplines. Only then will he be able to understand how to apply these programs and software to obtain and decipher the biological data he requires and what it means. If he is working on a hypothesis about the presence of a particular genetic pattern in a genome, he needs to have an understanding of the genome sequences and patterns. So that when he enter a sequence into the program and searches for a particular pattern or trend, he can retrieve it and see if it is present somewhere else in the same genome or another genome to find relativity. For a person who is a computer whiz and can retrieve data form anywhere, to be successful in the bioinformatics field, he will have to have an understanding of molecular biology and chemistry. This will help him relate to his other coworkers in the same field. The bases of bioinformatics are the genes and the codes that they carry. A deeper insight of the DNA, RNA and the translation of the genetic code into proteins is the focal area of most the work and research in this discipline.
Learning Can Be Fun And Educational For Your Child With A Sensory Table
If you are a preschool teacher it is highly probable that you know all about Sensory Tables and their benefits, and probably use them daily. These tables help to grasp developmental differences such "big and little," and "in and out." They also aid in the social aspect as children are learning to interact with their peers. They enable children to discover the world through their senses, and are wonderful for any child up to the age of five. As these sand and water tables with be an important piece of equipment used in the daycare, preschool or home, choose the one that will best fit your space. If there are room constrictions, sand and water sensory tables are available for both indoor and outdoor. They are very lightweight and washable. They have a valve and pipe with a stem attachment that can be taken out for fast drainage or to clean. Most come with handy removable lids and shelves. They are rectangle shaped and made of both plastic and wood. Their available colors are wood grain, red, green, gray and blue. It's fun to surprise your child when you change out the toys. Switch it up with sea creatures, boats, trucks and cooking utensils that can be used with both water and sand. Many people even use leaves, dirt, grass or noodles to add to the fun dynamic. You may want to consider adding in a scraping tool like a bucket and shovel. This will teach manipulation and coordination. Have lots of Rubbermaid boxes to keep everything neat and separated. When using sand, many children especially enjoy mixing it with glitter. However, make sure it is the plastic kind, as it is much safer than metal. The sparkly sand, glinting off the sun will entertain them for hours. You may want to add water or ice cubes. This will amaze and delight any child. For a fun outdoor activity, put a bucket at one end of the table. Have one child let the water flow out of one end, while another hauls the water back to the beginning and start all over again. This allows your little scientists to learn the properties of ice and water, better understanding cause and effect. Depending on how often your child plays with the sand and water sensory tables will tell you how often you should change out or add materials. Most children will never get bored, and they never even realize how much they are learning!
How To Prepare For A Proficiency Test
Students are tested every year in order to verify their improvement and knowledge in various subjects. The intention of testing is not only to measure a student's progress but also to gauge the effectiveness of the education system per school. According to Bison Educational Systems, there are programs providing support and resources not only to teachers but also to students at all levels. The goal of these programs is to make the process more efficient for educators and provide them with tremendous resources for the highest level of on-line educational support when it comes to preparing students for state testing. The following are some tips on how to prepare for state proficiency testing.1. It is important to discuss the types of tests students will take for advancement. Some states only test reading and math, and some test a wide range of subjects. Ask what particular subjects will need to be studied.2. Understand the purpose and method of the testing by reading any resource material and notes available. 3. Execute practice tests; especially in those areas instructors express the need for improvement. Practice proficiency tests are available and easily customizable at Bison Educational Systems4. Review the results of the practice test. Develop learning exercises for areas that have problematic scores, then, have students re-take the practice test to see what improvements have been made. The purpose of preparation is not to make the student feel inadequate, but to help them get the practice and preparation they need to pass all areas of state testing.
How To Use Technology To Increase Student Participation
One of the biggest challenges for schoolteachers is getting their students to participate in class. Whether it's due to shyness, a disinterest in the topic being discussed, or simply an inability to grasp the material, a lack of participation in class ultimately affects how a student performs on essays, exams, and the class as a whole. However, there are a number of innovative tools teachers can use to encourage more classroom participation.Technology, in particular, has played a prominent role in classroom teaching over recent years, with teachers utilising all sorts of technological resources for lessons, exam revision, and more. However, technology has also impacted student participation significantly, encouraging students not only to speak up in class, but also to take a greater interest in the material being presented to them. So it's no wonder an increasing number of teachers are relying on technology-based tools to help their students engage in classroom lessons. One of the most common types of resources includes computer or technology-based games. Technology and computer games are already a big part of youngsters' lives today; so utilising such games in the classroom is a way of applying an already-established student interest to a given lesson. Because students can often relate to such games, it's a great tool for grabbing their attention and encouraging participation.Another popular resource that teachers have been using to encourage participation is the interactive whiteboard. Interactive whiteboards engage students - often with multimedia features - making lessons more fun and interesting for them. Studies have even shown that classrooms fitted with interactive whiteboards show more student participation than classrooms that aren't – meaning the interactive whiteboard is a proven valuable tool in today's educational world. Finally, countless teachers have been relying on student response systems to aid class participation. Such systems – often resembling a remote control – allow students to respond to a teacher's question with a click of a button. The information is then transferred to the teacher's computer, which can be projected onto a screen in the form of bar graphs or pie charts, or simply kept by the teacher for assessment purposes. The idea behind student response systems is that they encourage all students to participate in class – even if there are varying levels of class motivation or lesson comprehension. It's also a great tool for helping shy students participate, as they can contribute without having to speak up or feel uncomfortable in class. Student response systems enable students to answer questions in a game-like format, making participation more intriguing and fun. With a number of technology-based tools and resources available to schools and teachers, it's now easier than ever to encourage students to participate and ultimately help them get more out of classroom lessons.
Teachers And Violence At School
Nearly half of new teachers do not feel properly equipped to deal with violence in the classroom, a survey suggests. The association of teachers, lecturers surveyed 1,001 NQTs with 49% respondents believing they had not had enough training to deal with challenging behaviour, and nearly 55% who were still training who felt they were not getting enough guidance. One of the most challenging aspects of violence within schools is how guidelines of restraining pupils are interpreted. There have been cases of pupils complaining that undue force has been used by teachers, to stop a fight: and the complaints have had an impact on a teacher’s career. Instead of respecting that a teacher has taken reasonable measures to stop a fight, they have to justify their decisions, which make them feel vulnerable to malicious complaints by students.During teacher training courses, it appears that this is still a skill that is not taught to students. If student teachers do ask advice, they are referred to the ‘School’s policy and guidelines’, which they do not find helpful.Guidance by the Department for Children, Schools and Families lists the types of force teachers can use on children. This can include passive physical contact such as blocking a pupil's path and active contact such as leading a pupil by the hand or arm. In more extreme circumstances, "appropriate restrictive holds, which may require specific expertise or training", may be used, it says. However, these guidelines can be misinterpreted, and as mentioned before, still require the teacher to prove they had assessed the situation quickly and acted accordingly. Given that a lot of violent situations arise suddenly, there isn’t time to make a full risk assessment before acting.I believe the physical aspect of intervention needs to be discussed within schools to make school policies very clear to all staff members. However, there are also other actions that staff can do in addition to physical intervention, to diffuse a violent situation. These are not covered by the CSF’s guidelines but are invaluable skills to acquire.Eye Contact. When communicating with the students, create eye contact with them, to engage their attention where possible. Look directly into the eyes of the student in a neutral way – not aggressive.Body language – ensure this is open, professional and not aggressive or threatening.Non-mirroring of the students’ body language – you are trying to diffuse the violence, not fuel it. Your neutral body language will influence the outcome.Voice – make sure you maintain a low pitch in your voice; when one is stressed it has a tendency to become high and shrill (particularly in ladies). Keep the voice clear, calm, audible and speak slowly.Language – use assertive language; repeating what you want as the outcome. Use non-judgemental and non-emotive language.Mentoring. It is essential for all teachers, that they have an opportunity to discuss challenges and ideas with a trusted confidant; preferably a more experienced teacher. Also, watching more experienced teachers dealing with challenging situations is an invaluable learning opportunity for Nqts and training teachers.Executive Voice have produced an audio training CD “Making an Impact with your Vocal and Physical Presence” for teachers – available from Amazon. They also deliver training courses for teachers in schools, on vocal and presentation issues.

Please let your child independence of his homework
As we know, homework can help children review and practice what they’re learned,as well as explore subjects more fully than time permits in the classroom. It also can help children develop good habits and attitudes. It can teach children to work independently, encourage self-discipline and responsibility(assignments provide some youngsters with their first chance to manage time and meet deadlines),and encourage a love of learning. Homework is meant to be a positive experience and to encourage children to learn. So ,please don’t regard children’s homework as your responsibility.keep away from it,it doesn’t mean that you never help your child with homework. Please take notes : your child does his homework, but only after you nay, yell, and threaten him with punishment. This is very common trap that parents fall into: The more responsibility they take for insuring that their child’s homework gets dome, the more irresponsible their child becomes.as a remedy, consider allowing your child to experience the consequences of his own actions(or lack of action)on the homework front.Turn the responsibility back over to him. Parents are often surprised to see their irresponsible children begin to take charge of their homework once the adults let go. However,if your child doesn’t do his homework when you let go.Please don’t worry, you should do it gradually. For example, you nag five times at the beginning ,and later nag three times, one times, and at the end ,you don’t. Please take more attentions on this,it is not only save your time and energy, but also get your child develop good habits and attitudes, work independently, encourage self-discipline and responsibility. If you want to know more about children education ,my blog could provided some help.
